Many people have asked why we got into sports cards, to begin with? I've got to say this has got to be the best question ever asked. We started sports card Investing over 30 years ago as a kid as many people did. Collected cards, traded cards with people, and just had tons of fun.
Back in the day of initially collecting cards I loved statistics and I loved math. I could look at cards and tell you the batting averages or the era, and the teams that many people played on that were some of the more elite players back then. It just really became a passion for me.
The cards in the past typically had stats and numbers on the back. Today, in a lot of cases they don't have that, but they have cool things like patches and autographs. So the hobby has transformed some over the years, but the reality of it is, it's the same exact hobby that I grew up with under the hood, and I absolutely don't want it to change.
One of the things I love about the sports card industry in general is that it teaches such great skills to people. It teaches them the skill of how to assess value, communication skills and how to negotiate trading cards with other people. That's the whole point. That's why trading cards were actually even invented … to trade.
So finally, the most important reason why I got into sports cards was that I just love it. It is just so much fun. I love going to the shows, and I love trading, selling and buying sports cards. It's like eye candy to me every time I go to a show.
What I love the most, which is absolutely great to see, is the young folks today really negotiating and trading hard for cards. Meaning that they know the values of their cards and they know what they want to get for those values. So what a great skill to pass on to the new generation of sports card investors.
So it’s simple, we got into cards as a hobby many, many, many years ago, and that passion and fun have really brought us all the way back to today still buying, selling and trading sports cards, and at this point, we wanted to give back to this hobby that we loved so much as a kid. That's why we're into sports cards.
